About this home
McCanns Lane – Renovated Double-Decker Bus on a Lifestyle Block for 30+ Day Stays in Fyansford, Geelong McCanns Lane offers a one-of-a-kind stay in a fully renovated, forest-green double-decker bus on a Fyansford lifestyle property, just a 10-minute drive from Geelong CBD. Surrounded by gum trees, roaming chickens and a sheep paddock, it's a quirky, family-friendly base for stays of a month or more. It's ideal for families wanting a memorable extended stay near Geelong, and anyone wanting a peaceful rural setting close to the city, without needing to stay connected online. Lower Level The original driver's seat, steering controls, stop buttons, ticket slots and stamp press are all still in place, and kids are welcome to play with them. The lower level has a kitchenette with a sink, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, cutlery and dishes, plus a vintage-style radio and a two-seater dining bench. At the rear is the main bedroom, which has a King bed with curtains around the bed area. Upper Level Up the stairs at the front is the kids' level. It has a play driving station at the front with views over the farmland, and a movie area with beanbags, a TV and a DVD player with plenty of family movies supplied. At the rear are two single bunk beds, suitable for four children, with curtains around the bed area. Please note the ceiling on this level is lower, so tall adults can't fully stand up. Split-system air conditioning serves both levels. Bathroom Pod A lockable bathroom pod just off the deck has a shower, toilet and vanity with a power point. Outdoor The large wraparound deck has a BBQ and a six-seater outdoor dining table, ideal for cooking bigger meals, with views over the smallholding and its sheep. Guest Access & Parking Check-in is self-service via a key safe, so you can head straight to the property at check-in time. Park right beside the bus. Your area includes the bus, the deck and the driveway, all fenced off from the surrounding rural property. Access beyond the fenced area is only with the owners, who are happy to introduce you to the sheep if you catch them for a chat. The Neighbourhood Fyansford Hotel – 2–5 minute drive, for a hearty pub meal Provenance Wines – 2–5 minute drive, for fine dining Queens Park – 2–5 minute drive, with walking, play areas and a café Geelong CBD – within a 10-minute drive, with Village Cinemas, Laserquest, MoPA, and restaurants on Little Malop St and beyond Getting Around A car is recommended for getting around Geelong and the surrounding suburbs. Ubers and taxis are readily available. Please Note The bus uses tank water, so we recommend bringing bottled drinking water. There's no WiFi and no free-to-air TV. The upstairs TV plays DVDs only. The bathroom is in a separate pod off the deck, not inside the bus. The bus has many windows, and only the bed areas have curtains, so the space won't be fully dark. The kitchenette has no cooktop or oven. Use the BBQ for larger meals. The property isn't pet-friendly, because of the other animals on site.
